A downloadable hive

A group of wasps is trying to attack a beehive in order to extract the sweet royal jelly inside! The bees in the hive will need teamwork in order to survive the invasion.

This is a 2-player asymmetric abstract boardgame where one side tries to remove the Royal Jelly piece from the board, while the other is trying to thin the opposing pieces to fend off their attack; the asymmetry adds a layer of depth to the gameplay. The PDF explains the rules and provides illustrations for how to play and setup the game.

Editorial suggestions:

1) make the diagrams have realistic hex layouts (for example, the second diagram on the second page is incorrect for a corner hex. This diagram is particularly confusing as it seems to show a wasp not leaving from a corner hex.)

2) have sub-headings for possible moves...For example:

Wasps:

<wasps get 2 moves/turn>

    Adding a wasp

        ...

    Removing a wasp

        ...

    Pulling a bee / jelly

        ...

Bees:

<bees get 1 move/turn>

    Moving a single bee

    Moving a queue of bees

    Moving a line of bees

I've always found Tafl type games interesting and the mechanics here are really unique.

I'll need to play it myself before judging, but from the sound of things it seems like the game could potentially favor the bees. One idea I had that could boost the wasp side would be that when they're defeated, it could destroy the space they were on, which would both block the bees and be used as an escape path for the wasps.

I'm a bit confused about moving a line of bees. It says:

"Similarly, if a Bee moves and there are other Bees in a line extending from it, every Bee along the axis that line forms may move together with the initial Bee. There may not be gaps in the line or queue."

Suppose I have a row with 4 bees: [B B B - B].

1) Can I move the 3 adjacent bees? (even though there's a fourth bee on that axis)

2 Can I move just 2 adjacent Bees? (even though there's a third bee next to them)

Yes to both. Thanks for the feedback; it was hard to write the text in a way that'd parse easily. I'll try to adjust the wording to make it clearer; the "every bee along the axis" bit gives a wrong idea.

Ah, neat, so it's basically just "you may move any straight line of bees".

I think this is great! I think you'd definitely benefit from adding the tag "print-and-play". There's such a big community around that and I bet your game would get even more visibility there!

I read this ages ago and completely forgot to do that :( added the tag, thanks!

You got a record of dislikes. Congrats!

Dragging bees around to mess up their tempo is so cooool
