Seeing the subject line "Hempuli released a new friend: Baba Friend" in my email absolutely made my day :)
I never thought I needed this in my life.
I couldn't pet baba a single time with a minimum pet speed of 10. I had to reduce it to 5. Also, baba is cute uwu

baba is ADORABLE
I like how you can make it so baba bounces between the two sides of the screen picking up speed until baba resets at the bottom left.
I also had to change the pet settings to get baba to react.
Also: BabaBuddy
aha, the reset is when baba stops due to a low enough inclination, because baba currently thinks its on a spot beyond the resolution, which defaults to 0,0.

i don't know how to pet them though
Hover over Baba with the mouse and move it rapidly back and forth for a bit, it's a bit finicky.
The config lets you make it easier to pet baba
