Okay so a little thing I've noticed is that the rules are NOT the same as John Conway's Game of Life.

Neat little game as always ! I don’t understand how these are not disappearing image.png

Thanks! The rules have a little detail where units that are completely alone stay around. It's not really consequential in any way, though.

I don't know if it was intended, but I feel like I cheesed many levels exploiting that lone units don't disappear. For example the penultimate level is easily solved like this (spoilers):

is this based off of conways game of life because the infinite mechine in thatgame doesnt work here so now i dont get the rules of this one

(+1)

It's based on Game of Life but it uses a different set of rules. You can find details about a ruleset similar to this here: https://conwaylife.com/wiki/OCA:3-4_Life

Yeah, they're a little different.  Check the question mark in the corner for details.

i dont understand that

In the bottom-right corner of the game, there is a question mark.  If you put your cursor over it, it shows a representation of the rules.  Or are you saying that you saw that and didn't understand it?

i don't understand the rules :<

I didn't understand it

i decided to figure out the rules myself by making patterns with each possible survival and birth condition.

then i clicked the ?

No. I refuse to play Hempuli's game of life. 10/10 though.

I am sorry for the people using touch pads

painful, but manageable once I fumbled my way into figuring out both orthogonal and diagonal gliders

two in one month! it's happening again...

Why grid rules when life rules do trick?

Don't know if it's intentional or not, but you can place a cell next to a skull so long as it dies on turn one and it will not turn into a skull

...wait, that's how you make a diagonal glider? i found the horizontal glider quickly, and i found the almost-square part of the diagonal glider (which makes a glider-esque oscillator on its own) so many times and tried so many variations on it, but apparently i didn't  try that... ;v;

What are you sorry for?

Is this the real life?

It might be just fantasy

or just Conway's?

Oh that's a solid joke

I was actually a little disappointed when I figured out it wasn't conway's game of life. The glider strat doesn't work :(

(+1)

I didn't know it beforehand but there is actually a Game of Life wiki page for (almost) this exact ruleset: https://conwaylife.com/wiki/OCA:3-4_Life

You can find gliders for this setup there :)

but this works in conways game of life
